Winter Hike: Galehead

SUMMARY

It was the final weekend of the winter season, so some friends and I climbed Galehead Mountain for our Winter New Hampshire 4000 Footer list and our Grids.

We parked at Beaver Brook cross-country skiing parking lot on Route 3 in Twin Mountain, New Hampshire. We cut through Beaver Brook and followed some roads that were closed for the winter but used by snowmobiles to get to the Gale River Trail head. We hiked up Gale River Trail in our snowshoes, and then Garfield Ridge Trail to Galehead Hut. From the hut we took Frost Trail to the summit of Galehead and returned to our car using the same trails.

Our packs were visited by a trail angel while we were away, possibly Hiker Ed?
