Winter Hike: Madison

SUMMARY

After bailing on Madison in December because I forgot my headlamp, I returned in January 2017 to bag it for my New Hampshire Winter 48 list.

I took the most traditional route up to Mount Madison. I parked at Appalachia parking on Route 3 in New Hampshire and hiked up Valley Way with microspikes. At Madison Spring Hut I hiked up Osgood Trail to the summit of Mount Madison. I returned to the hut and started up Gulfside Trail toward Mount Adams before deciding I was too tired to attempt climbing Adams. I returned to my car via Valley Way.
